Help! My Child Suffered an Injury After Hours

Help! My Child Suffered an Injury After Hours

It’s one thing for your child to get injured during daylight hours, but what do you do if they get hurt when your doctor’s office is closed? Do you take them to the nearest hospital? Do you call 911?

Here, at Northeast Pediatric Associates PA, we can walk you through your options to help you know what to do. Our team is dedicated to helping all our patients achieve health and wellness in any and every circumstance. That’s why we offer after-hours care at our offices in San Antonio, North Central San Antonio, Schertz, and Castroville, Texas.

Our after-hours care service can put you in touch with one of our nurses in no time. You can quickly learn if you should go to urgent care, get to the hospital, or simply find out how to treat your child at home under your care.

It’s normal to have an emotional, panicked response to your child getting hurt, but knowing you have immediate medical support can put you at ease. That’s what we aim to do at our practice.

Injuries that might require an after-hours care call

Injuries can happen to your child in a number of ways. You should call our team if your child experiences non-life-threatening injuries, such as:

If you think delayed medical attention could cause harm to your child, call 911 immediately.

How after-hours care works

Our team is here to help you, no matter what time of day. So if your child suffers an injury at a time of day or night or during a holiday when our office is closed, we’re still here for you.

If your child’s injury isn’t life-threatening, call our office right away at 210-657-0220. You’ll hear certain prompts that send you to the convenient helpline to get your child the care they need.

When you call, you don’t have to worry about a delayed response. We offer quick and effective information based on your child’s injury and needs

When you hear a voice on the line, that’s our answering service staff. They ask you for your phone number, the name of your child, their date of birth, and a description of their injury.

You’re then either transferred to our medical professional who’s on call during that time, or you’re simply instructed to hang up the phone and wait to be called back, which takes place within 5-30 minutes.

Once you reach our provider, they may be able to instruct you on how to treat your child, depending on the type and severity of the injury. We can then see your child the next day when you book a same-day visit to provide them with the medical attention and additional follow-up care they need.

If your child has an injury or even gets sick outside of our normal office hours, call our after-hours care service at 210-657-0220. If your child can wait until the next day to see us, call or book your appointment online for a same-day visit. Or, it’s possible that a telehealth call might be the best option. The bottom line is we’re here for your child’s medical care no matter the time of day.
